Research Description:

My current areas of investigation are understanding the radio frequency interference mitigation algorithms and developing beamforming techniques for focal plane array beamformer.

Radio Frequency Interference Mitigation Techniques

I work on algorithms that operate in real-time and mitigate interference in time and frequency domain. The real-time approach poses a different kind of challenge in terms of understanding the efficacy of the techniques and their effects on the astronomical data. Various RFI excision techniques have been investigated as part of this work.

I also work on understanding the properties of power-line interference caused due to corona and gap discharge on high-power transmission lines.

Real-time Beamforming Techniques for Focal Plane Array

I work on investigating various architectures suitable for real-time implementation of a multi-element, multi-beam beamformer. I also work on understanding the focal plane array beamforming through simulation of the antenna elements, analog receiver systems and the digital beamforming system.
