Spectrum

The intensity of an object can be measured at different frequencies. A spectrum is a plot of the intensity of as a function of the frequency . Every astronomical object will have it's own distinct spectrum. However, those within same class of the spectra would generally have similar characteristics. The physical conditions of the source also can be understood by the study of the spectrum.
